Also the point of sequential turbos is to make more linear boost as opposed to a dramatic increase in power and torque.....and no VTEC is NOT overrated. I mean you won't light them up on engagement but the feeling (especially on a cool morning) and the sound of the exhaust note is very dramatic.

No, it's a real advance in engine technology from over a decade ago.

But it does allow honda to release a 240hp car with the gas milage of a 170hp car. The Mazda referenced would be luck to get 10mpg.
That may be a little exaggerated. S2000s don't get the 30ish mpg that civics do, and rx7s don't get 10mpg either.

You must not have owned may sports cars. Not may cars that do under 6 seconds 0-60 get 25ish mpg city (under real world conditions) and are capable of high 20's on the highway.
Most modern sports or sporty cars do that easily. My old SRT-4 ran the number and got 30mpg on the highway. My brother's LS1 GTO does it, and gets 28mph highway. Hell, any LS1 F-body can accomplish that too. It's not the impressive feat it used to be.

Come-on, google first, it helps with facts: 17mpg for the GTO:

Eat a dick. When I say his car gets 28 on the highway, that's what it gets.

So your brother's friends sisters GTO get's 28mpg, real good source newbie. And I hear your SRT-4 does better? Why don't you bother people on the SRT-4 site.

EDIT: Either way my point is VTEC is Honda's way of giving good gas milage for people who are willing to drive under 5000rpms and performance for people who want to drive at 8000rpms.

And here close your eyes and open your mouth:

Depends on the car

I hate to add to the fire here but 28 mpg on the highway out of a GTO is not out of reach. Some of the cars we tuned when I still worked in that industry could easily knock down high 20's on the highway if driven with sense.

And yes, you can feel the crossover to the OP.
