It's noticeable in my S, but it was noticeable in my Integra as well...way back in 1997.

But the Integra did not have a rag top. If not for the rag, the S would not have parted me with my coin.

You can feel VTEC...it's like you are floored, then suddenly a quarter inch (maybe half inch) of pedal kicks in...it ain't much, but it's there and you feel it. Unfortunately, when it gets there, you have about a second or so before you are bouncing the rev limiter.

But, it's better than nuttin, it has a red start button, and it looks nice.

Admire it in the garage at night, enjoy waxing it and whatnot, and don't race minivans.

your buddy's FD probably has a boost or vac leak. Sequential turbos are problematic for this vary reason. If you can't feel the secondary turbo hit, he'll need to double/triple check his rat's nest. Better yet, go non-seq and call it a day.

My AP2 has a better Vtec hit than my 98 GSR did, but it's nowhere near my FD.

If VTEC is over-rated, why are many other manufacturers going to their own version of it?

OT, but...I think the RX7 FD got much better MPGPHP (Miles per Gallon per HP) than the RX8, but possibly at the expense of emissions and other gremlins. If I drove my old RX8 in the powerband it got much worse mileage than my S does in VTEC.

I think the new Vette is capable of low / mid 20's on the highway. Of course, I'd lower the overall average to the low teens getting up to highway speed. :-)

This is retarded... you guys are comparing a Turbo'd FD-RX7 engine to a N/A Honda S2000 engine and the "kicking in of vtec and turbos" and the like

Vtec isnot a turbocharger... I swear I hear more crap and nonsense about vtec than toyota's vvti or gm's ecotec... phrase the come to mind "I cant wait till I hit vtec"

[QUOTE=geminimech,Mar 30 2008, 03:35 PM]Also the point of sequential turbos is to make more linear boost as opposed to a dramatic increase in power and torque.....and no VTEC is NOT overrated.
