A good match would be a SC with some Final Gears. That should give you more of an edge.
I would tend to agree with that ^ Add some R-compound tires and you're on your way!

Get a 7lb pulley, some extra bolt-ons and you're superior driving skills .

you can get C5s... even z06s around 30k...

it would cost alot more than what a z06 is worth to get the S to be able to hang with it.

put headers, x pipes, and exhaust on a z06 and already you have another pretty damn big power difference. and you spent what, $2k AT MOST?

The S is not really a drag car... some like it, but there are better choices to have a fast 1/4. A good friend of mine bought a z06 with 30,000 miles for right around 30k.

Thanks for all the helpful infos I think I am going to take a performance driving school first and see if I can hang. If not, I'll get SC and add some power. If that doesn't work, than more money in brakes so I can late brake.. and if that doesn't work???? i'll just hahaha btw by "track" i meant road racing courses not 1/4 mile tracks... I wouldn't even dream about competing straight line race with c6 or supra

Hey,

I have a lovefab kit running 8 lbs and C5's are NO PROBLEM AT ALL. The C5 ZO6 is a neck and neck drivers race. I only run the kit at 8 psi even though I have lowered the compression. I ran a Z06 at the track @ 11 pounds and they are no problem at all. Now the new ZO6 IS GOING TO HAND ME my ASS! So don't rull the S2k out. its just going to take a lovefab turbo to do it!

the graph below demonstrates the reality of it.
In black a 2001 S2000 Comptech SC 7# boost just over 300whp
In red a 2005 C6Corvette bone stock
Same driver both cars but much more experience in the S2000

Well, realistically it's closer to $3k for all that, and that's if you install it all yourself. The X-pipe (or H-Pipe) and the axle-back exhaust is pretty easy for a do-it-yourselfer. The headers are a PITA though.

I already destroyed the seals on my calipers with stock engine on R-compounds. Adding more power is going to make things like that happen all the time. If you are talking mostly about canyon drives and such the SC is probably a good idea. It will make you more competitive, but on the track the S2000 will need more then that especially if it's a high HP track. I find that on very technical tracks and in the rain I can put a major wupping on a lot of higher HP cars, or course the elise is always my bane on those tracks!!

Again he wasn't talking about 1/4 mile crap! He was talking about carving up canyon roads. He already said that he had a lot more experience than the other guys .
