Well the corvette has tons of torque and mpg's is around the same as the S2000. Poeple get over 30 mpg highway all the time in the Corvette.
But low toqrue definitely comes from the small engines Honda likes to use. Hard to get lots of torque out of an NA 4 cyl.

Honda's not interested in torque, its interested in economy.
..................and less pollution, more hp per liter, affordability, higher quality, reliability , great bang for your buck and everyday driving usefulness.

and that's why I love honda

Bottom line, Honda is overall conservative and wants to remain the "greenest automaker" in the world. Torque is related to displacement (or f.i.) and Honda is reluctant to put big engines into its street cars. It's the biggest engine maker in the world, and that means they could very well put any engine into their production vehicles, but they choose not to. Remember, this is the company that produces the most race engines in the world too. They're not afraid to produce race engines or any engine, but they're reluctant to put too big of an engine into their street cars.

SUVs are nothing more than pigs that should be banned for use unless you own a farm, ranch or work in construction.
Aphuckingmen! Tax breaks for fat SUV's is one of the most assbackwards things I've ever heard of.

Top gear had that test with an M3 around the track and all it had to do was keep up with an econo box going flat out. The M3 used less fuel.

The answer to your question would be the little Japanese fellas are not strong enough to hang onto the wheel with huge TQ's. V-Tech is about the limit.

If this was not a sarcastic statement, then I applaud you for writing one of the dumbest shit I've ever read here.

there is a little truth to this, they are very conservative, even with bikes...it wasn't until the other 3 manufacturers forced them to up the hp ante that they left the underpowered CBR900RR (and 929) behind

that's why I like Kawasaki: take-no-prisoners bikes

btw the new Honda 1000RR is downright hideous

Honda makes diesel engines which have plenty of torque. They aren't afraid of torque, they realise that they don't need to put engines with high torque numbers in their passenger cars to sell them. LOL at people thinking engine size and FI are the only factors that affect torque.
