Have you got any decent size car dealers by you? Ask whether you can have a look at their trade-ins, most dealers auction off any car older than 5-6 years unless it is something very special / desirable. I have picked up a few that way, they seem very happy to get shut of them cash rather than the hassle of auctions / traders (traders always want to pay very low prices).

most also have a selection of tame small dealers who will take anything that can't be put on the forecourt - they get the cars at trade price plus a 'drink' for the dealer

the way this usually works is they get a guarantee of a certain number of cars

but they have to take some crap amongst the decent stuff

all this can make it a bit of a closed shop to the private punter

ps that Fiesta looks like a good example of the above
