Chalk and Cheese
Mine was an answer to what I thought was an open question, not a specifically-aimed one.
I'll expand the point that I have been held up in the S2000 by bloody supercars on several occasions - one thing I love is that it's narrow enough to squeeze past.
It's one of the reasons that I rail against all these windowless, fat and heavy modern cars. If only Honda had developed the NSX, we might still have a sub-McLaren supercar worthy of the title!

I don't know how much of it is wishful thinking, but over the years, I've heard any number of claims that Ferrari/Lambo/Porsche drivers can't drive
These are usually followed by some tripe like "I had him in the corners in my Clio Trophy/Cortina 1600E/MX5"
All of which acts as a constant reminder that a 330D is all the car I would ever need in the real world......
In truth, I can only ever remember being held up by one 'supercar' which was an idiot in a 911 turbo
OTOH EVERY DAY OF THE FECKING WEEK I am held up by something with S2000 performance, + or - a bit
Now of course, there are many more S2000 type performing cars than 911 turbo type cars, but you get my drift
I simply haven't experienced the bloody-mindedness and obstructiveness shown by so many people in ordinary cars - this has become so bad that undertaking is now a daily requirement
People in supercars really don't have anything to prove - but it seems that people in inferior cars are quite the opposite
It is absolutely CRITICAL to them that they prove something to the driver of the supercar
Of course many supercar owners don't drive their cars anywhere near their potential
Nor do many S2000 owners
I know three S2000 owners who bought the cars for the simple reason that they 'wanted one' and 'the cars look nice'
WTF is wrong with that?

More often than not from my experience of exotica on the public roads the driver is often pootling; like you say, nothing to prove as far as the size of thier wallet and the performance of the car.
I actually had a Ferrari of some description behind me this morning; not sure what it was but an older model. We turned onto a Nat Speed limit wide open section of road where just about everyone guns it as you say; I didn't because I'd just look a tit; I normally would just for the buzz of the Vtec but I couldn't bring myself to do so as I was too conscious of the big red car behind me.
The Ferrari driver didnt put his foot down at all and was doing perhaps 45 in a 60.

Apols for not putting my point over very well. When I say 'typical' supercar driver, I mean the overwhelming majority who are NOT enthusiastic drivers per se but who simply buy the car for badge kudos.
The average person driving a supercar is a more competent driver than the average person driving an S2000.
I may have thought similar to you 10 years ago, but most of the people I talk to who own such supercars are enthusiasts.
To compare supercar an an S2000 is laughable, no matter how it is dressed up. From our outing at Oulton on Saturday potentially the fastest (non caterham) car was a crap looking 80's golf. Clearly a better car than the Porsches, GTR's etc that were there...

What is the source for your statistic?
Anecdotal evidence which is all something like that statement can be.
When you have something interesting to say in this forum I'll be listening with open ears.

It's possibly just better than an average sports car through the twisties. No better, no worse...maybe.
Your Elise is far far better. Our E30 is better. The M5 is better given its size.
