Please check that this is correct before putting it to the test, but as I undertand it (we had about a year of no parking restrictions in Hitchin because of this) if the plate does not match the lines (lazy arsed councils not changing them), or if it is missing, or if it is the wrong size (don't know exactly what the size is suposed to be) then parking restrictions are null and void, and so are any tickets issued!

Lines have to be capped to be enforcable.

But what's the point. If it's double yellow, don't park.

I have got away with a parking ticket on double yellows that were not capped at the end.

I was on a bit of road with no lines with my front wheels just going onto the lines, popped into work for 5 mins, came out and ticket. Dont make a habbit of parking on double yellows but took some photos of the lines and the fact they were not enforcable and letter to the issuing council (Liverpool)
