EK9 VS S2K
I race mine on OEM calipers and nothing i've seen brakes stronger over a full race
Same when it was OEM weight. But each to their own.
I'd still stick with the EK9. I race against a couple and they are quick with the right mods.
Indeed; the brakes on a standard EK are complete and utter shit.
They're passable on an EK9.
They are fine on the S2000 and big brakes only slow down fast cars by adding rotational mass & buggering up offsets & stuff. Just go in too quick & drive out the other side...
However, if you have the prejudice to rice before trying, there's no one convincing otherwise.

My stoptechs added no extra weight, they are actually a few grams lighter and they are huge. Most kits save rotational mass due to aluminium calipers and aluminium hat on the floating disc. The willwood kit (admittedly not a very chunky kit) saves 10kgs!
I noticed a night and day improvement on track days myself. Going super charged next week I'm very glad I've got them on the car. Even if staying na I'd do them again personally.
Not sure why some people are against them on here. For normal road use I found the normal setup fine, but the op is talking about tracking a supercharged s2k. I think its wise planning on his part, certainly not rice.
PS with careful planning on wheels you can still keep the correct offset. I'm running et50 offset up front, pf01s.

Dixcels are cheaper than big brake kit and you don't have to change your wheels? From reports the dixcels sound pretty good if they can stand up to a racing environment.
Nevertheless, I would stick with a k20 conversion on the EK9, modifying a standard S to go as quick on track will cost you a fortune in after market parts.

Before I had my S I had a stripped EG with a B18CR.
I miss that car as you could just throw abuse at it.
The S is special though.
As for brakes, yes the standard calipers are heavy, but the brakes are enough for trackwork easy, especially if you can brake properly and you have a little venting.

I had stripped EG with a H22A (prior to that it was a D16).
Utter hooligans. FAR more forgiving than the S2K - to the point where I really miss it and would love another EG.
Would I swap the S2K for one, though? Not a chance.
