Evora First Drive
I spoke to JCT600 at the Yorkshire Show yesterday, they are going to try and get me in one at some point, but Leeds is a way off so I'm not sure when it will be.
I can see me ending up placing an order if I'm not careful (sorry Kate, wedding's off....we've run out of money

I reckon the Evora will win because the colour palette is far more imaginative!
The Evora has 7 Metalic
Lotus have the any colour you want option too, but you need to ask. As for price, they've just been clever and because it has 4 seats they've priced it between the Cayman and the 911. The poverty spec model puts it performance wise close to the Cayman S and the supercharged model should put it around 997 CS territory.
I guessed they might have an any colour option, did not see it on their site when I had a quick look. Sensible pricing strategy if they can make the profit margins that Porsche do on each car as long as they get a sensible number of sales.

it's a Lotus, so it will sell in tiny numbers
nothing to do with its inherent quality
I don't know how Lotus can change perceptions
but I'm sure it would take a very long time

The average punter for that price will want more comfort and presence on the road compared to the track orientated Elise / Exige / Evora. Their very style and size has an adverse effect I reckon, making them more of an enthusiasts car than a mass market car.
Perhaps Lotus are happy with that
making the step up to more mass production is a huge company investment requirement and if they can make money in their current format why change
