What a load of tripe about engine temperatures - Monaco is the slowest circuit on the calendar and gives the engines the easiest time as a result.
Lower speeds means less cooling. Just because they're on full throttle less than most places doesn't mean the engines don't get as hot. They also run lower gears at Monaco, so more revs for the equivalent amount of cooling compared to somewhere with long straights.
And if what you say is true, they'd cut down the amount of cooling to the minimum, which is what Brundle was saying.
Speculation that it was cooling anyway, but again it seems McLaren just can't deliver on their potential because of reliability. I really thought this year would be Kimi's year, but it doesn't look like he's going to be a championship contender.
Don't understand the Massa bashing. I think he's done very well on the whole.

You were either watching a different race to me or your ideas of what makes a good race are very different!
I'm sorry fluffyninja but we must have different ideas of what makes a good race.
I want to see overtaking on the track, and not just in the pits. Real wheel to wheel racing, which involes drivers out braking each other into corners. So that means we need to get rid of carbon fibre disc brakes, and going back to steels. This would increase the braking distances, and give drivers a better chance of getting past the car infront. It would also slow the cars down, which is what the FIA seems to think makes safer racing.

Yep, the exhaust temp got too hot, and melted a wiring loom. It happened during practise on the Thursday or Friday too, so you think they'd have planned for it.
As for Massa, he's just been his usual flaky self. Capable of banging in some decent laps on the odd occasion; and binning it or falling backwards down the grid the rest of the time. He's binned it in qualifying twice this season I think, and crashed out at least once during a race. He doesn't compare favourably with Barrichello's performance at Ferrari in any way.
Rumour has it that Silverstone have completed some special track modifications in readiness for the British GP after the Michael's Monaco parking antics.
Rumour also has it that Michael has negotiated a special dispensation....

I imagine traveling flat out up someone's jacksie for 40 odd laps in a track temperature of 37 degrees, then going in for an unsheduled stop for 30 seconds on a car with no cooling far would probably cause a few issues. Montoya's was ok because he had nice clean and cold air going into his sidepods for most of the race because he couldn't keep up with the quick boys.
Precisely. A more intelligent and canny driver wouldn't have driven right up another's exhaust on a track like that with no hope of passing, without at least allowing a breather.
I agree this was a bad move, but Kimi/McLaren perhaps thought it was worth the risk in order to put Fernando under pressure. Certainly if it had gone to the last set of stops Kimi would have gone on for 2 laps more.
It never seems to work out for Kimi and McLaren though. The Kimi/Ferrari rumours are cooling, and it now looks likely that it'll be a Finnish double whammy at Renault next year. I rate both drivers highly, and think it'd be awesome. Like little Rosberg, I think Kovaleinen will be super-quick out of the box.
I knew the signs were there. His 200th GP and playing at home
Oh well, fair cop. You can have your tenner back now
PM me your address..... or double or quits for another before the end of the season?
I'll take the money, just to get even!
I do think he'll get up there this season again mind, all the luck went his way I would say, but he stayed out of all the trouble, got ahead when he had to and brought it home, makes up for all the bad luck this season....
