Southborough, down the hill past the cricket ground?
That one always flashes when people go too fast in the opposite direction...

They have to do a manual calculation of your cars position on the white lines to confirm you are speeding so cant pin it on you.

<edit> Just seen someone else posted the same Yeah don't worry about it

great photo. I got in trouble with the cops there but for a different reason.

It was the day after the world cup final and we were blatting back from Italy to Dijon and I lost my bloody toll road ticket. Pulled up to the tollbooth and tried to explain it in bad french. Cops come and get me and stand me in what I can only describe as a glass box connected to a portacabin in which they sat.

Now it ws fecking hot, Im standing in a greenhouse sweating my bollocks off whilst being forced to fill in all manner of forms. You can imagine how they were hating me. A brit in a convertible, wearing an italian shirt FFS with no idea which tollgate I joined the motorway on

20 minutes and they let me go soaked with sweat and

A salutary tale for us all. Always hang onto that toll ticket!

I had a letter from the Italian highways agency equivalent a few years ago claiming that I'd failed to pay a toll when returning to Milan airport in a hire car.
It was nearly 18 months after the event and I vaguely remember what happened. It was late in the evening and the toll on the autostrade exit ramp was unmanned and in darkness, with the barrier up so I drove straight through. What else was I supposed to do?

So when I got the letter demanding I paid the outstanding toll with interest. I did the only sensible thing... and ignored it!

I wonder how many other tourists got caught in this little scam and ended up paying?

The Italians are generally much fairer. I lost a ticket over there too down the back of the ashtray (stupid design) and the italian lady was cool as a cucumber just charged me for the trip I said with no fines or cops.

My best italian moment was finding my car roped off by the police in the corner of a carpark that had been turned into an outdoor big screen arena for the football final whilst we were out in Florence. We got back to find thousands of italians had taken over a carpark, sitting / standing on cars watching the match on a big screen that had been erected.

My jaw dropped as we walked back to the car park.. I ran over to my car and praise the lord the Italian cops had parked their car around the S and actually roped it off within their emergency vehicles. Luck was on my side that night. They told me to go enjoy the match and would look after my car At the end they moved the barrier to let me out and driving through florence was nuts. Luckily they won since we were surrounded by people all over the street celebrating. I had the Matador treatment from many with their flags on my car as I drove through. Roof down through the middle of it.. Good memories.
