Unhappy Foiled again...

Hi,

I'm a newbie to the group although I have been lurking around on here for the last few weeks. I was a passenger with Useful on Megameet 2 and the recent run out to the Ring in early July.

Yesterday I waved goodbye to my L200 and as I no longer need a tow vehicle I'm looking about for an S.

I also own a 3.5L MGB V8 roadster conversion, I've had that car since 1999. It may be slow but it does sound good. But it's been a little problematic in it's time and meant that it went unused. I really should flog it before I let myself buy an S and I want to be able to keep the S in the garage.

The V8 has been laid up for about 2 years and today I set out to put the battery back, fire it up and start to prep it for sale. Battery back in, I disconnected the coil and turned it over a few times, then reconnected the coil and it fired straight away.

Tried to put it into gear but no luck, fearing the worst I cut the engine, put it into gear and tried turning it over with the clutch pedal depressed. Sure enough it tried to lurch forwards. There is fluid in the system and no leaks, the pedal action feels the same as ever it did but the plates are siezed together

So before I can continue with the master plan to buy an S, I need to get this thing freed up so I can drive it over to the Garage for a service and MOT.

I've pumped the clutch to no avail, and turned the engine over with it in gear. I don't have a trolly jack in order to start it in gear wheels spinning in order to use the breaks or drop it.

Any helpful tips on how to release a siezed clutch plate?

Fixed it. Fired it up in first with my foot on the floor. It kangarooed for a few meters then took off like a scolded cat, I stood on the brakes.

Somewhere between that and the wall about 30 metres away the clutch plate released.

Now to clean it up, flog it to an enthusiast and find that Moonrock S

Back in April a motorist right turned onto me while I was cycling through a crossroads, lights were green. Broke both arms and my left is still broken, hence why I could only passenger round the Ring.

I figure that I've had a pretty $h!t year so I'm treating myself with the S...

Nice to see you out and about, matey.
Be warned that the latest Ss have traction control - something you won't be used to after drifting your MG around roundabouts at about 20mph!

I can vouch for the MG V8 sound - all mouth, no action
