Oops didn't see arsie post
He got a 5 place penalty for changing the gearbox and started on the grid.

The pitlane start thing was all related to Mercedes wanting to change the brake discs which was potentially against the Parc fermé rules. The same would have applied to Rosberg but in the end the FIA allowed the change under one of the regulations, so they both started no the grid.

Good to see that people were watching the race properly

I did wonder about the disc changes. Maybe an Elfan Safety clause overriding the Parc fermé rules? So hence Rosberg stayed on pole and Hamilton dropped down to 20th from 16th for his gearbox (plus one place from was it Grosjean completing a forfeit?)

Agree it's in Hamilton's head as to whether he succeeds or not. It could not be any better for him than this year having the best car. Rosberg is ice cold in the head department, where this will be decided. If I were Lewis I would sign that new 3 year Mercedes contract right smart. Maybe there is a lobotomy clause?

@SC: yeah me too

So, given that Germany was such a good race, with Hamilton racing through the field, how's about going with F1's love of "random rules to spice up the spectale" and introducing the following rule...

The highest qualifying team mate in each team form the first half of the grid, whilst the second place in each team forms the back half of the grid in reverse order. That way, the slow cars are in the middle of the pack causing havoc for the fast cars at the back, and there's even more pressure on team mates to out qualify each other!

Explained here: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/115054
Article 34.2 of F1's sporting regulations states that: "It must be clear that any replacement part a team wishes to fit is similar in mass, inertia and function to the original."

Apparently Red Bull and Ferrari pondered a protest.

Well, his disk didn't explode again so can't have been similar in function - I think the other teams have grounds for protest

Reports coming in of Toto and Paddy being injured while riding bikes on a team building event with Lewis and Susie. Perhaps Lewis tried to pass where there was no room???
