If he hadn't damaged his car in 2 hit & runs, the tyres would have lasted.

Which is why I asked, how many more ways can there be for it not to be 'even'? Hamilton is his own worst enemy. A racer but a bit of a babby at times. 'Engage brain then open mouth' would be good advice

No-one has said it's not even.

I was merely pointing out that when either Hamilton or his car have not let "team Hamilton" down in qualifying or in the race, Hamilton has won every time, with the exception of Monaco.

His interview technique leaves a lot to be desired, of that there is no doubt.

Just so Simon and thanks for the analysis.

I originally posed an open question: how many more ways can "team Hamilton" f@#k up a level playing field. A slightly tongue in cheek reference to an Elisabeth Barrett Browning sonnet springs to mind but, really, I have no confidence that Hamilton himself will not find new ways to keep it interesting, shall we say.

In 4 out of 5 uneventful races he has won. Rosberg 4x2nd, 1x1st.
In the other 5 he has: 2xDNF, 1x3rd, 1x2nd and 1x1st (when Rosberg DNF). Rosberg won 4 out of these 5.

If this pattern is sustained he will not win the drivers championship.

Key for me is his practice performance. From pole he wins, likewise Rosberg, give or take. The cars are the same. But lies, damn lies and statistics Germany was fun though. Hamilton should always start from the pit lane

I thought he started on the grid? (The possible pitlane start was due to the change of brake discs - something Rosberg also did).

All he really has to do is stop making silly errors for the remainder of the season (perhas trying slightly less hard in qualifying) and hope for fewer mechanical problems and he has a very good chance of winning the championship, especially so if he manages to win in Abu Dhabi (what with the silly double points rule).

Indeed he did.
There was talk of/a gearbox change after his crash but he did start on the grid. My point remains

This is going to be very much a mental game between the two merc drivers, that being the case and given that there is not that much difference between the two in terms of speed and driving ability it is likely Rosberg will have the edge, however I would like Hamilton to win the championship because he is English and I believe he can.

I think it's probably a mental game of Hamilton against Hamilton. It's up to him if he wins the championship this year (assuming the cars will be as reliable as each other).

He changed the gearbox so started from the pitlane.
