my new evo
I think the point is that whilst the Elise has superb handling, and therefore bags of grip on the move, this has almost nothing to do with the break of traction required for doing a donut.
More power and less weight will help you break traction for a donut more easily, so on that reasoning Gad is suggesting the lack of power made it hard for you to get a Donut from the Elise.
The lack of an LSD also makes it harder to do donuts and the Elise does not have one as standard.
I would also add that next time you need some help getting the Elise to do a donut, feel free to give me a call!!!

I'm sorry badda but I don't believe that for a minute. I've been in my mates elise when he spun it in the wet (with utter ease) and I've driven 100s of cars and not one has had wet performance anywhere near dry performance and this includes scoobys. I had all 4 wheels up and spinning yesterday on a slight bend in the wet and I had cronic understeer on a tight roundabout (way worse than in the dry). The scoobs lack of communication and adjustability hacks me off. Its a brutal and blunt instrament in every way. You get the result (going fast) but compared to the S2000 is like killing with a baseball bat vs a samari sword

The g-force it generates just beggars belief. Direction changes are instantaneous. As Kelk and Jo also say, it's just so hard to break traction on warm tyres in the wet. It'll spin to buggery when they're cold though. Thankfully they get up to temp very quickly. It's hard to spin the tyres in the dry and with 220bhp/ton it should be easy with only 225's on the back. But with things like tyre compound, engine location, and suspension layout all working together it's still not easy to achieve.
I took a guy out in the car the other day when the roads were wet and he was astounded at the grip I had. He kept shouting that we were never going to get round each roundabout we came to. He drives a '92 Escort Cossie, and occasionally his wife's P1.
My guess is your mate wasn't driving properly or his tyres were shite.
Probably both and he has an early S1
I'll perhaps retract this statement many years from now when I get a go of a good elise on advans but for now I simply don't believe you
You must lose cornering speed in the wet - there is no way it could set a wet track lap the same as a dry one IMHO.

It's not identical of course there is a loss, but the grip is so comparable unless you are going at it hammer and tongs that it's negligible. It's hillarious in fact.
finally got around to taking some (half) decent pics today. weather was meant to be dry but sadly this failed to materialise. i still took a wee drive down to helensburgh anyway and took some holiday pics. did the now compulsory photoshoppery on them too for added arty-farty-ness

I did 300 miles today to see my mom and back home in a 1.8 mondeo and used just over a 1/4 tank of fuel. So about
