I will always miss my Elise S160. Friends say they prefer my S2000 to any car I've owned, but for me, the Elise was 'MY car'. An Exige with a V6 sounds great, but I do hope it's a properly revvy unit. Redline around 8000rpm would suffice.

If I were to get another Lotus, I'd also want an S1 with Honda K20. I've experience Supercharged ones, they are FAST!.

1080 kg

Over 345 bhp

This is too much to bear!

Price has shot up though...

It is nice but it's become really distanced from what the S1 was all about now.

And it's not as nice as this

Back is a bit unusual, but other than that I can see a trip to the dealer soon.

Some other plus points like rear window too!

Graham, it is, but I guess it's progress and somewhere in the 1tonne mark is still pretty good going for a modern car, given safety standards.

And the S1 ethos is still there

Lotus are producing some really excellent cars recently.

That GTE had me nursing a semi on, I think a trip to the bathroom is in order.

I'm a little unsure about the increase in physical size of the car. I always loved the "compactness" of the S1 & S2 Exige's, however that power output more than makes up for it

Will be interesting to see how well it sells with such a large price hike.

I'm going to have to avoid Lotus dealers for a while. My child will be in rags if I give in to the urge for a V6 Exige.

There's 2 rules to contend with... 1) Never buy a new car 2) Never buy a first new Lotus (always improvements around the corner)

I could chuck those 2 rules out in this case!!
