They will forgive you

Can you imagine how bloody fast that will be with 350bhp?? I though it was a bit silly with 250!

I know, even the 190 was quicker than all but the higher spec Caterhams and Porkers. Just hope it doesn't spoil the balance, having the heavier engine out the back (though if their earlier products are anything to go by, they'll have sorted it).

Roughly Tuscan minus the S? Only scarier.

Having been mostly sideways round the Nurburgring in a Tuscan Red Rose, I strongly suspect the Exige will be less scary.

So it's true TVRs get lighter as they go round the track, then?

Well, it depends what the V6 does to the PMI; I'm sure Lotus haven't turned it into a Lancia Stratos, but that's sort of what it reminds me of.

I may be being touchingly naive, but I would expect that Lotus would have accommodated the weight thoughtfully. They would destroy their greatest attribute - that every modern Lotus, while not necessarily as cosseting as their rivals will always handle superbly - if they allow something ungainly out of the factory gates.

And the Tuscan overwhelmed it's grip on a damp 'Ring at every opportunity, the looks on the faces of a dozen or so owners of pristine, polished Ford RS models of various vintage as we fishtailed perilously past them was a picture.....

The new Exige will handle like you would expect a Lotus to. They never seem to get that wrong. It's their pricing they need to look at a bit.

I bet it did! The last ones actually handled very well on a dry road, but you could feel the potential for trouble just below the surface.

I'm sure the Lotus will be excellent; it just seems a LOT of lump for a lightweight car. It's in the correct place & the Lotus is very low CG-wise, normally.
