It seems from his email like he is willing to co-operate, if you provide him with the evidence you got from Honda.

It sounds like he has got the mileage from insurers rather from the actual car itself.

So this may not be such a bad situation afterall.

I would present him with 2 options. These do depend on you providing the evidence you got from Honda.

1) He covers the cost of you sending the engine back and a full refund for what you paid
2) You come up with a

full refund - he pays for all transport costs of getting back to England

it's the only way - why risk paying a reduced price for what may still prove to be scrap?

then start again

Ok an update. Below are some photos of the engine that supposed to have 7100 miles.

The guy replied in my e-mail. Below is his reply. He did not mention who's mistake it is (why the mileage was 7100 on the odometer) so i asked him again but at least he seems he wants to help i believe

" Hi Chris
sorry for delay in replying.
I did send you the vin number to you before you agreed to buy the engine and thought you would and had done all the checks you said you have done to verify the mileage now.

If your not happy with the parts then if you give me some time then i will find you another engine as i have a car coming in soon but do not know the mileage yet,

We have s2000 coming in all the time"

What do you think?

Thanks
Chris

Depends if you can trust whatever new engine it is that's coming in.

I can't see the pics at work.

I would ask him to take the engine back, paying all the costs involved and then search for an engine from somebody else.

People only get one chance in my book.

But it depends on how desperate you are.

i know, i know.. but why would you not check the VIN out before spending that amount of cash.. and i thought everyone knows not to deal outside ebay or use a bank transfer.

Anyway.. good luck.. they seem to be helping, but i wonder if they are just starting the classic string along until you get board.

Basically is not so easy. I have to ask for a favour as Honda does not give this info to everyone. Plus it does have a very good feedback as a seller
