Funny thing is, if it's a Mk4 .. it's the same as the Mk1 Leon and if it's a Mk5 ... it's the same as the Mk2 Leon.

Most of the 'upgrades' to interior can be chopped and changed, especially on the mk4 golf / Mk1 leon / S3 Audi platform. My old Leon ended up with S3 leather heated electric recaors - the best seats i've ever had in a car.

28k is nothing - you will be unlucky / unlikely to see issues before 60k. It's only on the 150PD engines that there are known issues with worn camshafts - clutches are ok as long as you drive the car through the gears and don't cruise in top gear on the torque < 2krpm

Can't go wrong with a golf
actually, you can

friend had one, would never start and even if it did it wouldn't stay started

numerous leaks, poorly fitting trim and the dealer wrecked it

VW bought it back

I know its the same car but i thought the Leon had a really crap interior. Its the mk V.

We looked at (i think) a red cupra with 240bhp but it was shite inside. I dont have time to mess with it. The golf seats are more comfort than sport but heated and this car will live outside

Dynamically the Mk2 Cupra kicks the golf into a cocked hat .... but the interior is drab ... and frankly just not good enough. It's the bit you see and feel every time you drive it and it matters, shame SEAT didn't think so, or weren't allowed to.

Not good enough, totally agree. It made our 04 vectra look luxurious. Very basic.

The mk v golf gets rave reviews and for long hauls with the current fuel prices a diesel makes sense as an alternative to the S.

Anyway, picked it up today and dorris likes it

You should have got the Megane. VAG reliability is overstated, although residuals are better.

I popped into Renault to find out when they're getting the RS Megane 265 Trophy in, will be getting a test drive in one in the next week or two. The interior is pretty good I thought (on the 250 they had). The previous megane was pretty shonky though.

Did look at them, quite like the coupe but never found a fast one, not interested in buying new as they depreciate faster than they go. I've also had bad exp with french cars. And of the ones we looked at one had a door which didnt close properly.

I sat in the prev Rsomething.. It wasnt nice and its not for me
