Road captains
Where I live there is a roundabout half a mile after the 30 limit finishes but everyone just dawdles along still at 30 until they get to the roundabout!
Then they sit there seeing the traffic approaching the roundabout from the right and wait. No spatial awareness and no regard for other road uses. They've been doing this journey for years and think they are good road users just because of that.

i feel more relaxed after this thread. i have vented my annoyance at the 10% of the population who are total and utter nucts by another spelling
i am considering strapping a chain gun on the vectra dti. i have the letters to rename it iVader (so Lucas cant sue me). i'll paint it with underseal and destroy anyone who transgresses my opinion of rapid progress
the 'up to speed' is an interesting one, on the day on my bike test (Nov 2008 iirc) it was hammering it down and my instructor told me 'get up to speed faster or you will fail'.. that was fairly unpleasant on an old knacker at 60mph i can tell you

Every single day without fail, I am stuck behind a car doing 40 in a 60. This is the cause of my frustration. I usually come up behind people doing 50. However I understand that as being acceptable, and annoyance is my own problem.
Lorry doing 40 fair enough, it's their speed limit.
Transit vans doing 50, ditto.
But cars at 40. They should not be on the road.

SC is right though; anyone causing Nobby & Stobby to pull into the overtaking lane because they are doing less than 56 on a DC in a car should be banned instantly. For life. It's unnecessary & it's dangerously slow.

with no accidents.
I was on the A road between Barnstaple and the M5 yesterday. There are several straight sections and from time to time an overtaking lane.
I was about 5th in line behind a lorry which was holding things up. I know the lorry can't go faster but the queue was growing. Why didn't the lorry pull in to one of the many parking places or lay-bys? It would add 2 minutes to his journey.
Secondly, we'd been in convoy for a while and no-one had overtaken the lorry. Then I realised that between the Mondeo which I'd assumed was behind the lorry and the lorry itself was a polo. Who could not have seen past either side of the lorry and was therefore not capable of overtaking. However the Mondeo was also too close to the Polo so the train one would have to overtake was double the length it should have been.
After giving everyone a couple of long straights to make a pass I decided to try to make progress. At the next clear straight I overtook the car in front of me. At the next straight I went to pass the Zafira - who was sat behind the Mondeo. As I went past he sped up giving him the opportunity to vent at me for trying to get into a smaller gap. Thanks mate.
(Also shook up my wife who automatically blames me in those situations.)
Meanwhile the Mondeo had actually made a move past the Polo and the lorry, so I was behind the Polo which weaved around. A lot. At the next overtaking lane I was able to get past.
Very frustrating - initially caused by the lorry not realising or acting on the queue behind him.
But also due to cars driving too close to each other.
