Saz loves Karmann Ghias. (I particularly like them rat look.) She used to be a fixture at Bug Jam.
Shame that you've sold your Fulvias, I love them, perfect dog cars.

hope you get the balance between restored and patina just right for your taste
I used to like immaculate but now I prefer old cars to be battle-scarred
it's difficult with a car like yours as you had to get the whole respray
I had to sell and am selling my old cars to raise cash for another project which I hope to post about in due course
at the moment it's a bit like an early pregnancy - keeping quiet just in case it doesn't go right
at this rate I will be left with nothing by Christmas but I know I'm selling at inflated prices and hope there'll be a nice collapse when I come to buy again
I too am sad for you re the Fulvias gad
I have some great Karmann Ghia memories. Here is a pic of one with the rat look that I took recently at Players.

MQ did Mr. Q really say that it looked "cool"
I'm looking forward to seeing the TR tomorrow for the first time since it went away

it's a 1967 convertible and rhd
very original but with a few invisible modern improvements like electronic ignition and central locking
only a 1300 4-speed, so no ball of fire, but quite adequate for its use nowadays
Save your tears lower.
The spray booth might not be up to your standards but it looks like the guy operating out of it knows what he is doing. He told me that he applied a number of coats of reface primer before applying the paint to fill the imperfections. The paintwork is finished and considering the state of the panels that you can see depicted in the photo and the fact that the car has still to be polished, we think that it is a sight for sore eyes.

Friendly friends.

Reflected Ferrari glory in one of the doors.

The Minilites, borrowed from the Datsun, are for ease of moving the car around. Mr Q would like to keep them. I’m not sure, I think they look a bit sausagey and we don’t plan to race. I like the idea of keeping it as original as possible. It can be seen that the silver painted steel wheels are quite heavily pitted but I don’t mind that, they’ll look much better when the re-chromed hub caps with their red and blue globe centres are fitted. The car was prone to pirouette in the wet and it would handle better on the Minilites I think but I can’t see us taking it out in the rain. We would be interested to hear people’s thoughts on the subject.

Next task is to reassemble the car. New carpets will be fitted. The leather upholstery is being retained and refurbished. The plan was to replace the bumpers, which are in poor condition but they are difficult to source and very expensive. Looking into having them re-chromed. We won’t be riding out in her on Christmas day.
Lovely old boat-tailed Riley, worth around £100,000.
