I did read somewhere that the DVLA have been giving out addresses of car owners when they are given a reg number. May only be for these dodgy car clamping/ticketing companies but might be worth a try.

My experience of a bike SMIDSY was that the local force were not interested unless an injury had occurred - (my bike was written off).

In fact when I suggested a day or two later on the phone to the local bobby that he go and speak to the octagenarian Volvo driver who pulled out in front of me on an A road (whose details, including address - half a mile from the copshop - I was given at the time of the incident by the driver concerned) his words were:

"What would be the point - it wouldn't achieve anything"

I suggested that this old boy was perhaps unfit to be driving and was dismissed as me not being in a position to judge it.

If the polis are not interested in following up a potentially serious incident like mine, a fender bender is never going to be looked at.

Did you get a crime number.

Or an incident number?

I don't hold out much luck for you but at least you can pursue him through insurance.

Why the hell did you get a producer? You weren't even driving. Actually come to think of it I reported a similar incident (although no witnesses) and they gave me a producer.

It makes no sense.

When this happened to me approx. 12 months ago, the police paid a visit to the lady in question.

She did, however, receive little more than a severe ticking off on the proviso that she make no bones about the insurance settlement. Pretty sure their telling me about that last bit was a mere pacifier given that she probably pleaded ignorance of the event.

It would have been nice if they'd have done a bit more than this, but it wouldn't have got my car fixed any faster. At least the stupid bint and her family will think twice before behaving similarly in future.
