Folks,

This year, after a horrendous time last winter, I have decided to purchase a beater!

The S2000's tax runs out at the end of August, the car will thereafter go into storage and the Mazda will be taxed to run in it's place.

I spoke with my insurance company, Elephant, regarding this. They apprised me that if my car was not taxed, the insurance would be invalid. Regardless as to whether or not the car was being stored off road.

Does anyone know of insurance companies which will cover me in this circumstance?

For those interested, the beater is a 1997 P reg Mazda Xedos 6!

Just spoken with insurance company again, clarified now!

I need a 'laid up' policy, can anyone recommend a company?

try people that specialise in classic cars - or one of the big owners' clubs such as the MG Owners Club

I didn't know that when I SORN'd on old Volvo 340, I just assumed the insurance would still be valid.
They don't tell you these things.
I found this if its any help

Why is this in the Non S2000 forum? Its about S2000 insurance so it should be on the S2000 UK community forum.

I'd say it was a general topic which just happens to be about an S2000 in this instance.

Good info to know, I also wouldn't have known about this.
