Default Windscreen replacement

Does anyone know if these need to be declared as 'claims' when getting insurance quotes?

When I changed my insurance company 3 years ago I told them that I had to have a new screen the year before and claimed on the insurance, they said they didn't class it as a claim and were not interested. I would tell them as a matter of course (Knowing how wriggly they can be if you do have to make a claim in the coming year). If they say it counts find another insurance company.

What Bramblecat said ... I've always mentioned it come renewal time and always been told by the "new" insurance company that they don't count windscreen replacements.

As I understand it, technically you are NOT claiming against your car insurance when you claim for a new windscreen. You have been given (for "free" on many comprehensive car insurances) a "separate" insurance for windscreen cover (a bit like breakdown cover except most car insurers happen to give you the windscreen one as part of the package.)

Would you inform your insurance if you claimed on your breakdown insurance?!!

Just renewed my iinsurance-they weren't interested in the 2 windscreen claims we have had.

Best to tell them anyway.
