I've been to Lucca and it is a very pretty place.

I also know a great 'agriturismo' in that area which isn't far from Lucca/Pisa/Sienna. It's run by a barking mad Italian bloke and his wife, we had a fantastic time there and I would highly recommend the place.

S'alright; I swore at him for it.

Unfortunately it probably will in future become one of those "Robin Reliant" phrases; a shibboleth to expose the stupid.

Liked James May's rant about suspension settings! Hit a chord.

Lucca was mentioned to me on numerous occassions before I travelled around Italy recently.
Whilst it is a good place to visit I would say that the other medieval towns offer more charm although I appreciate that is subjective.

Consider staying in or around Siena so you can visit this wonderful city plus the other nearby locations such as Montepulciano, Cortona and indeed have the option to shoot north west into Lucca for a day trip. Siena is more centrally based and of course you have the delights of the much raved about food and wine from Tuscany - (www.hammyuk.wordpress.com might provide some inspiration).

On the subject of Clarkson I was pondering something recently.
His traits make him a marmite character for sure. That aside what do you reckon on introducing a female into the programme who is a petrol head and can drive? Also with a spin on it to keep Clarkson on his toes? And of course - who would you recommend ?

I'm sure you're the same person. I bet you've never been seen in the same room together.

Nah; they'd be nice to her instead of horrible to each other.
