I think most interesting / rare marques wave.

Lotus owners do it a fair bit, as do Evo / Impreza ones.

Mate at work was cracking up when a guy in a Ford Probe the same as his, waved at him Not cool.

you can't assume anything about the driver of another car

(well you can, but you would be silly to)

maybe the driver is a mechanic/borrowed the car/just suffered a bereavement/is listening to the radio/isn't a needy saddo

etc

lots of reasons why people don't wave

S2000s are common as muck in my neck of the woods (not as much as boxsters or TTs) but I see different S2000s on a weekly basis.

A wave is very rare and even from me (unless I recognise the particular S2000) now as I have given up.

If it's flipping freezing/raining/snowing and they have the hood down, it'd be rude not to give them a cheeky nod

It's a bit of a geek's car anyway so most times a smile is reciprocated

Walking in York once with my sister. Earlier I had been taking the piss
out of her for been a Goth still in her thirties (Yorks a magnet to em).

Anyway she see's a bald bloke across the road and asks me- "are you
going to nod at him?"

I am surprised when people don't reciprocate a wave, or flash headlights, when I'm in a rare or uncommon car.
