Default Tires

I have had my car for almost a year an put just over 12K on it. The tires were new with 4800 miles on them when I bought the car. So I have about 17K miles on the OEM Bridgestone Pontenza RE050.

I really like the tires as they have low road noise for sport tires and they are also grippy. I have heard some good things about the Kumho Ecsta ASX on the S2K, but my vettes friends say they suck. So, I am looking for input from you guys.

I am looking at some BFGoodrich tires. First the the g/Force Super Sport A/S. This are brand new, so I don't know if any of you guys will have them. Second the g/Force KDW T/A. I know Andy has these. How many miles you have on them Andy? Third the g/Force Sports.

I am looking for tires with a little bit more tread wear, but still maintaining the same traction of the RE050.

Also, if I stay in the Michelin/BFGoodrich family price isn't really a problem. It helps when you have a father that works for Michelin. You can attest Andy!

I'm running bfg g force sports and they do fine as far as wear. not quite as sticky as the kdw's. excellent rain tires tho.

well well well let's see her seth. let me get out my trusty "black book" of my car's records while in my posession!

my first set of KDW's lasted 18k miles and just at 11 months LOL (that's just for the rear). for my fronts i got a year and a half and 26k miles! yes i drive a lot and i drive everywhere. i was perfectly satisfied with the amount of mileage i got out of a 300 treadware rated tire.

this second set of rears i'm on, i am about to replace as well, just because. i still have some tread left but better safe than sorry with all this rain we've had lately and just bad luck in general. right now i have 16k currently on my rears. i like em, they grip nicely, i'm used to them now. apparently they are noisy (according to craig) but i don't hear them nor care bc i have an exhaust anyways lol

Sumitomo HTZ III's! Great tire for price, grip and wear!
Jim at tire rack highly recommends them and I love mine!

I love my RE01Rs. Looks like they will well outlast the RE050s, and they are:

Cheaper
Quieter
Better Rain tire
Better cold weather tire
MUCH more sticky when warm (worth about 5 mph on the Dragon to me)

I expect at the current rate to get ~22-24k miles out of the rears. And, yes, I have them on both my AP1 and AP2.

I just put a set of the new BFG Super Sport A/S on my S2000. They ride and handle better than the factory Bridgestones. On the way to work this morning I drove through varied road conditions (wet, dry, ice and snow) and my car never got loose on the road. I would highly recommend the BFGs.

Here are a couple shots from this morning:
