Sad as it sounds, letting them keep drinking may be better than not in this situation!

Having spent a lot of time around meth heads earlier in life, I can say that activity will not stop at all. They will just spread it amongst themselves to no end. Back in my day (like 20 years ago) when I was running with a very bad crowd and making very bad decisions in life, our little town had a hepititis outbreak. Those of us within the crowd knew exactly why it was so bad, since it swept the meth community fast due to those that preferred shooting up. And those people did not even slow down, nor stop sharing needles. It was horrible and sad to watch happen. Meth heads will be meth heads until they stop (Which is a lot less common) or die.

Like half of my friends/acquaintances are drinking every day... although that's not necessarily a new thing

I've also noticed the homeless folks in my 'hood (there's about... 100 of them? maybe 125?) are all still regularly congregating. The church which allows them to be vagrants live in the parking lot distributes food from time to time, so there have been big groups hanging out waiting in lines and whatnot. And I don't think the drug abuse has slowed at all. Although I haven't seen the crackwhore lady lately, so there's been fewer fights. But that community, which obviously has a lot of things working against them already, is going to have it rough if covid gets into the community (seems likely).

It’s interesting here. Over the last few years our visible homeless population has increased big time. You’d always see them hanging around downtown, but not anymore. I’m wondering where they are because it’s not as though all of a sudden the rental market is friendly. I’d imagine they’re sticking together/supporting each other, but like Sir CP said, it seems likely COVID will end up in that community.

Finding things to do I started going thru my many many shoe boxes of Printed 's as I was looking for a particular one.

Came across a few GREAT memories for my 's ( Childhood / Adolescent etc... ) & zapped a few to them in our ongoing chain - group text & it seems to be FUN giving them a chuckle while self quarantined

BB I just saw a couple of the Waddler & I in Charlie's back yard shooting HOOPS
maybe I'll text it to ya & you can show him his long lost friend from SJ
if you DO talk to him tell him hey from mom

I so badly want to either hop on a plane or get in the car and drive to Seattle to help out my mom but I'm not sure how smart that would be.

I know but she keeps telling me she wants to go out to the store and get stuff. I don't think that she realizes how dangerous it is out there for her.

BINGO!!!

Its the SAME story with my next door neighbor ( they are in their 70s ) SHE keeps going out NOTE: she also has her 95 year old Mother living there with them.

Yesterday she told me her Mom kept begging her for donuts so she went out to get her some I have to give up trying to help them sadly.
I will NO longer pull out & in their Garbage Cans ( not risking it ) sounds horribly mean butt I DO GET IT

they will have the Son-in-Law come do it.

I seem to think its this age - era of people for some strange reason that don't wanna face this reality

My parents are pretty much ignoring it.
