The Cooper S is one of the best FWD cars I've driven. No matter how much I pushed I never thought "gee I wish this was RWD". The problem with FWD tends to be when you get north of 250 HP or have 60% of the weight on the front tires. Too much to take care of.
Looking at the JCW, 2700 lbs, 62%/38% (!!!), 207 HP... sketchy.
