The reason I want to drive the car for about a year before I with it is so I can figure out what I need to "fix" for the car to best suit my driving style. Once I know that I'll start tweaking.

You're totally right about the handling of the Miata. With the light weight of the car you can cary a LOT of speed through corners that you simply can't do with heavier cars.

So far I'm really impressed with the transitional manners of the Miata. The next step is for me to become a better driver.

it's true, my BMW had impeccable handling, but it's weight made it slow to recover when the suspension was really loaded, and the bumpsteer in a hard corner was nasty.....

I still need to adapt my driving style to the Miata. I'm so far not smooth enough or confident enough to carry speed through corners...

I'm the same way in the S. It is such a capable car, that it delivers beyond what I can handle. It has scared me a couple times, I flinched before the car did!!!! I love this machine.

What I like about the Miata is that the limits are lower in many cases, so it's easier to explore the limits while still being relatively sane.

True, It was about the time I thought I was going to fly out of the car going around the corner, but it kept on sticking. It was a flat corner too, not banked.... Maybe the cliff made it seem more perilous

Yeah, I almost did a dive into a lake this last weekend on a drive! Went into a corner a little too hot and thought it was gonna be messy...but the car simply tracked around the corner...
