Michele came home last night and is doing fine just a bit sore in the tummy.
The team is guessing that perhaps there was some bile in the drain they took out on tuesday which cause her discomfort. The hidascan (s/p) showed a perfectly operating liver with no leak. They assume the tiny amount of bile was absorbed in her body.
Her blood tests came back excellent, her liver hasn't functioned this well in 5 years and it shows in her complexion, she just has to gain some more weight and get some more muscle tone back.
Kristen is doing just as well as she was before the surgery now and back to work full time in California. She works for Compaq in the Bay Area and when she returned they offered her a promotion and a transfer to NYC. This would be great b/c she would be closer to her family all of which live in Deleware.
After her little set back last week Michele returned to her regular routine of physical therapy today, and tomorrow will return to the hospital for follow-up.
It has been just shy of 2 months since her surgery and 3 months 1 day since she took the family medical leave act and stopped working.
And guess what...... her company called today to inform her she is no longer employed with them..... Now this is pretty
sh!tty if you ask me but what can we do. Michele had no plans of returning anyway but they didn't know that.
Her job was sales related and required travel, 3-4 days a week mostly by plane and she is just not able to do that for quite some time to come hence her decision not to go back.... but we wanted to make that decision, although they seem to have beat us to the punch.
I'm sure they assumed all of this when deciding to let her go...they are a small start up medical device company and need to get things moving before they run out of cash and their patience for someone as sick as Michele is too short I guess.
Oh well she's a very intelligent and educated women and will get another job when she feels the time is right.
What's important she is progressing with her recovery and will live to see another day...... and job.
Michele's recovery is now making great strides. I can't express enough the joy I feel everyday when I see her now. She is getting stronger everyday and gaining weight.
This holiday weekend we went to the movies on friday night, spent the afternoon saturday with some friends then went out to dinner and on the boardwalk in Atlantic City for a while.
On sunday Zippy(Ken) and his wife Nancy came over for a while to visit Michele and then we spent the rest of the day at a BBQ in Deleware with Michele's family.
She is feeling really good physically and excited that she is able to things now.
Here is a pic snapped this weekend of Michele and me, as you can see for yourself she has gained 12 lbs since the last pic in this thread which was taken just 1 month ago!

Wow, we spent time with Charlie and Michele yesterday, and all I can say is WOW!!! We hadn't a chance to see her since she went into the hospital, and the improvement is astounding!
IT IS AMAZING, we are going to have dinner out with them this weekend, and are looking forward to spending the evening with them. The wonders of modern medicine, it's indescribable.
