The cover was replaced by the dealer and there was no insurance claim or police report. Insurance claims are listed with the state in NJ, and I think they are everywhere, but I am not certain. Police reports certainly are.

Usually carfax finds out through insurance claims (they include vin).

The police "report" was not really a report (no traffic violation, so it is a "non-reportable offense"), just an official swapping of information.

Just thought I'd give a quick update of some info that was reassuring.

AAA adjuster came out and looked at the car, said he wasn't sure if they could cover the CF hood since I didn't call them when it was installed.

Well no more than 20 min after he left he called me back and left a message saying that no where in the policy does it state that you need to report anything installed on an automobile for it to be covered. It does specifically state however that anything installed on a truck must be reported.

Just thought I'd let you guys know, at least for AAA everything that is installed is covered whether you tell them about it or not.

Yeah, dealing with people like this gives me hope for the general public again.
