Default test pipe is on and i fixed the sound(not cat)

haha i feel invincible!!!! i thought i was gonna have a crazy hardcore time getting the cat off...my dad brought me his tools from work and this stuff called pb blaster or pb buster...something like that. for rusted bolts this stuff is literally liquid gold. i didn't even have to use a breaker bar on ANYTHING not even the freakin o2 sensor!!!!!!!! i was like holy crap everything just came right off with minimal force. so anyway i put the test pipe on and yea it smells a bit but damn you can feel the difference. that and the sound of the exhaust is freakin sweetness now...just a bit louder but no invidia the cat is in perfect condition with no broken honeycomb's inside

now for the sound i had...so i take the shop light and i'm lookin for an oil cap behind the engine and don't see anything...what do i happen to find....the black heatshield that is next to the header...on the side opposite the engine there's maybe a mm or two gap between the engine bay metal well there was an allen bolt that fit perfectly into the gap but the head kept it so it couldn't fall through...NO MORE NOISE@%@$%@^$@#^% i'm so happy.

now the next thing i really want to accomplish is the valve adjustment/retainer inspection to quiet things up a bit...also what do you guys recommend as the best oil to QUIET the valve train. i know its loud as hell but i'm sure i can quiet it just a bit to keep my anal retentive ears pleased either that or i'm gonna have to quietcoat the engine bay hahahaha

haha, I told you it wasn't coming from your cat. Yah, the PB is great stuff. I've been using it for years on the VW Bus and the 914, you can get it at NAPA auto parts stores. Good job with putting the test pipe in and solving the noise problem.

generally we have a loud valve train, but from what your saying yours seems special. I would have it looked at. Just for piece of mind

Dude, seriously, sell the car. Or, don't drive it. You're in a CONVERTIBLE!! A tiny little high performance CONVERTIBLE. It's small, it's loud, it makes noises.

This is NOT some luxury barge or for that matter an Eclipse.

Just drive it, it's a Honda after all................ stop the obsessing.
