Trick to getting TSB's done?
Ok. There are a couple issues with my car that I'd like to fix (hardtop strikers and clutch buzz) and have noticed there are TSB's for these issues. Now I have a 2001 with 32k miles so i know it's out of it's original factory warranty. However I did buy the car in april as a Honda certified used vehicle (and bought the useless honda care extended warranty). Being a certified used vehicle, does this entitle me to have tsb's completed or does my car still fall in the "out of warranty" status? I know the wind noise (new strikers) tsb is an easy one and cheap to fix myself, but what about the clutch buzz TSB. what's the likelyhood of them performing the TSB on my car? (if anyone knows). Thanks for any help guys
I'd venture to say that before this turns into an off-topic discussion about the use/uselessness of the extended warranty, that you...
Pick up the phone and call the dealer that you'd go to get the work done. At some point, regardless of our opinions, you're going to have to schedule the work, so ask them.
Personally - I'd say you should be OK.

I got my top replaced a month ago. I bought my car as a Certified Honda, out of factory warranty, but got a 1 year honda care warranty since it was certified. I ended up getting it covered by honda. I think it mostly has to do with the dealership that you take it too. I drove 40 mins away, to take my car to a dealer that came highly recomended. In the end it paid off. I know the two dealers around my house, would not have gone to bat for me and got the Regional Service Advisor (Honda Corp's Warranty guy) to cover my top. Like i said, its all about who you do business with... Do some research and as around your local forum to find out who the best dealership is with in an area your willing to drive to.
I got the clutch buzz TSB done on my car, but only after complaining to Honda North America.
At the time, my car was out of factory warranty by age, but it only had 15,000mi on the car AND it was still under the Honda Ceritified Pre-Owned "bumper to bumper" warranty. The dealer said that they could not do the Clutch buzz TSB on my car because the clutch was not covered by the Honda Ceritified Pre-Owned "bumper to bumper" warranty (which is really the Honda Care warranty). They said that there were no circumstances under which they could file that clutch replacement TSB as a claim to Honda Care.
So I called Honda North America to complain about their worthless Honda Ceritified Pre-Owned "bumper to bumper" warranty. They opened up a case and talked to the dealer about my situation. When I spoke with Honda, they seemed especially interested in my previous Honda ownership history and history of using this dealer for service. Honda NA called me back a few days later to inform me that the clutch buzz TSB was in fact NOT covered under the Honda Ceritified Pre-Owned "bumper to bumper" warranty. But they said that the local Honda dealer had agreed to do the repair "as goodwill, out of their own pocket" because I was a long-time customer and because of the low-mileage on my car. Later, when talking with the dealer, I got the impression from them that Honda NA had footed at least some of the costs for my TSB repair.
But the bottom line is that, after contacting Honda NA and filing a report, I did get the clutch replaced for no cost as part of the clutch buzz TSB fix.

well, this is only my second honda and this is only my first honda bought from the dealership. I guess i'll have to work some magic. anyone have any suggestions of a dealership that might be a bit easier to work with. I bought the car from Scott Honda by the way.
I bought my certified pre owned '01 from Martin Main Line Honda in Ardmore a couple of weeks ago, and had the exact same issues (clutch deceleration buzz and strikers needed to be replaced). Took it in and they ordered the parts for me with no hassle whatsoever. Getting installed today. I've been extremely impressed so far with the service I've received there. If Scott Honda won't help you for whatever reason, give them a call. (610) 649-5600.
