Saint_Spinner... got any more inside stories?
One scene that could have gone totally wrong, was the ankle part....basically these suits were sooo thick, that some parts where the weapons had to be mounted on, they had to "cut" away at the flesh part, so the weapons and armor doesn't look too ridicoulously big. One part was the ankle...basically my buddy designed this ankle armor thing, but during the shoot, I guess the film crew forgot to attach it, so here was this hulking predator and around the ankle was a really, really skinny section and all of a sudden you have the giant foot. He had a picture and it looked sooo bad. I guess they fixed all the mistakes via CG.
Another sucky hollywood move was the boomerang thingy....At first my friend designed this cool batarang/shuriken thing that actually worked! But the directors and stuff said "Naaahhh...the blades have to be bigger!! So they CGd the blades in...I thought the actual working blades popping out looked cooler and was much more believable.
YOu should check out the art of book thats coming out..My instructor's publishing company is printing it out. It debuted (sp?) at comic-con this weekend. PRetty interesting book.
Not that it isn't blatantly obvious that this movie will suck dry hairy balls, but you can always be 100% certain of the suckiness when its title is marketed as a catchy abbreviation. Movies like this aren't written in the traditional sense; they're developed by the marketing dept and pitched to soulless execs and preteen focus groups. This isn't a film, rather a 2 hour commercial to introduce you to their new franchise (which of course, they planned far, far in advance). And the worst part is, the public actually pays money to sit down and watch this shit, which only encourages them to make more.
Hollywood can kiss my asssssssss.
