My wife and I just saw Black Mass, starring Johnny Depp (21 Jump street fame- the awesome tv show), Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Dakota Johnson, amongst others. We really enjoyed it.

Based on the true story about the rise of south Boston kingpin, James Bulger in the mid 70's to the mid 90's. The FBI was involved in his rise which adds to the intrigue. This movie is supremely well acted by all involved, but the biggest surprise was the head of the supporting cast, Joel Edgerton. Joel's character has history with Bulger, with Cumberbatch playing Depp's politician brother. Edgerton will be nominated for best supporting actor come Oscar time.

Watching this play out with Depp at the helm was movie gold. I forgot that Depp played that crazy pirate guy- without a doubt, Black Mass is his very best.

Another excellent crime movie- brutal and vicious and well acted, full of massive american iron.

I give it a 9/10.

Want to see it but will probably wait for bluray/dvd. Seems to have good reviews all around.

 

yeah. you don't have to see this one in the theatre- it doesn't have any epic type grand scale scenes.
