Another idea...

Everyone that wants to participate in the car show donate $5... That'll cover cost for trophies (if there needs to be any), and anything above those costs can also go towards a charity....

Beer swap is under review.. I'm going to be working with the other two organizers to look at the pros/cons and feedback that was provided to better improve this for DBR '08.

I think we've pulled some great ideas from this thread..

* Poker Run
* Beer swap
* Putt Putt
* Car Show

Did I miss anything?

That's the way of the world. I don't see any reason to cater to those that might be too imature to handle rejection.

Hell even WSB is used to rejection. If he can do it, anyone can.

I would have the putt putt contest Friday eve in conjunction with the beer swap. Right around 9:30 PM.
Is putt putt lit for night use?

I think the beer swap was awesome, and if people would just be encouraged to make mod sheets and hang them in the car, that would make a great replacement for a "show."

Let's give back with a donation based poker run and putt putt contest. I would have the putt putt contest Friday eve in conjunction with the beer swap. Right around 9:30 PM.
I disagree, we are all passionate about our cars and I, for one,
would like to find ways of keeping my S looking even better if
there are people doing it better than me. One way to see that
is to see the cars at their cleanest.

It's also a way for those who are wash and wax whackos, like
myself, to get together....similar to those who like beer and pasta.

Cleanest car, I guarentee you, won't be the one winning a car show contest with this group.

I do agree with you that it's a great way to meet others though. That's the beauty of this thread... create other opportunities for people to meet others.

There could be MANY categories.

I would also reccomend against an actual trophy just from the "how do I get this home now" standpoint. A plaque or certificate would be good. Perhaps have some prizes like car wax, or a detail by Mattfeet, or some microfiber towels.

Things that would be relatively inexpensive so that there could be MANY categories to choose from.

I would think the hardest category to fill would be "most stock."

Best Sound
Best Body Mod
Best Interior
Best Engine Bay
Most Stock
Most Modified
Most blue tape
Cleanest Car
Most bugs on the bumper.
Crowd Favorite

Just some examples and ideas. I think that would make for a LOT of prizes and should give us enough happy people.
