spent LAST weekend at the Dragon. Most amazing experience of my life. my ap1 made it a hell of a trip, especially when pushed to the absolute limit. random ap1 driver joined us for a night tear through the dragon and nearly went off inches in front of me. front tires were teetering on the edge. guy got lucky. but an 08, youre fine, i say do 1 run through and back with vsc on and then take it off. good tires will be the most important part
Do NOT turn off your VSC on a public road, ESPECIALLY on the Dragon. It would be a really foolish thing to do. VSC on the S2K is not at all intrusive. If it is engaged, you are pushing too hard.
Lol, at it being "foolish" to drive the dragon without VSC. Plenty of us have pre-2006 s2000s and have driven the dragon (and -gasp- at various race tracks) without spontaneously bursting into a fireball. It's not that hard if you know how to drive.

Now you are just twisting words around to suit what I percieve to be an all too common dislike for Stability Control.

Don't like it, fine turn it off. Don't have it (like I don't either) then fine, drive the car, know the car, stay within the limits of the car and your skill. However to suggest that someone hit the Dragon for the first time and to turn off their VSC is just -- well, I said it before, foolish. If they are experienced driving their car without it, then, fine, do whatever but the Dragon and roads around it are not the place to be figuring out the limits of your car.

I don't feel that VSC is necessary but I do feel that it is a very valid technology and well implemented, as it is on the S2000, it is a solid safety feature. I guess maybe we should disable ABS also because it is a "nanny" technology. I also drove for many years before my first car with ABS that I got in 1990 and I didn't spontaneously burst into flame either but I still like the technology.

I guess I shouldn't have bumped up against VSA all weekend then. :burnrubber:
You had it engaged, though and I'm really fine with that. Although I have to wonder, Tom, isn't "bumping against the VSC all weekend" kind of akin to regularly being into the ABS? If you get hard into the VSC, that's quite possibly a Farg Up in a car without it. I'm really fine if you drive up to the engagement point. Hell, I'm fine if you disengage it, just not on your first trip to an area like that.

It IS a public highway and a LOT of whacky shit can happen in front of you. We've all seen it, heads of oncoming bikers in your lane, cars in your lane, tractor trailers in both lanes -- in the middle of the night.

People wreck, all the time. Had a bike go off right in front of me on our last trip. This was on the way out. Lucky for him he went into a ditch that was filled with leaves so nothing more than some scrapes, bruises, and very minor bike damage. We parked the car in as safe an area as possible with flashers on to protect the guy, I helped him get himself and his bike back up and onto the road, got his saddle box more or less clipped back on and sent him on his wobbly way.

Exactly the same idea, small crappy rear tires, might as well be a FRS with a much better view out the top.
