Default Hardtop needs adjustment for rattling

Let me start by saying I am a mechanical moron so I do not have the option of taking care of this myself. I am missing the gene that allows you to figure out mechanical problems. With that said ----- is there a local shop that has experience with Hardtop's? Hardtopguy is coming down sometime to help me out with some other things but I am not sure when he is coming and my patience may run out soon. I live in South Tampa. Thank you !!!!!!!!!!

i installed my hardtop and have lots of experience tweaking the adjustments. mine involved tweaking the driver's window after they replaced the regulator too, an extra pita.

it takes many many incremental adjustment and test repetitions. i think quarters may have some experience also and be closer. i can help out but you'll have to drive all the way up to land o lakes.

make sure you have some lube (shin-etsu) around the seals or it will creak no matter what. one of the things i noticed is that it can be adjusted TOO tight at the back. the instructions specifically list a gap at the sides as a guideline.

I have the same rattling issue with mine. I am still finding the way to tie it up as well. I will check out what liquid_iq said, maybe put some lube on the seal and check if the back is too tight.

I also have a very slight squeaking, but it only happens very ocassionally. It doesnt really bother me so I dont even think im going to mess with it.

OT question, I figured id ask this here since a few of you have HT's in this thread already. I havent hooked up my rear defroster yet cause I couldnt find the relay in the center console. I removed the center console, and looked at the instructions but the relay was no where to be found. Any idea on where it could be?

sorry, i never hooked up the defroster, although i did hook up the extra wires. the 00-01 didn't have the glass window, so it didn't have a defroster, hence it needs extra stuff. i don't remember if the extra wiring had a relay in it, or if it is part of the switch, or what. but i think it's in the defroster switch.

i ended up getting the 04 console and so i can't use the older switch. i have the newer switch that goes next to the steering wheel, but then i have to come up with a timer/relay solution, along with the few extra feet of wires, and the connector. so i haven't done it.
