I've had enough
i've seen double lines on a racetrack!
... but, here's the difference
.... so, what I think Chiung, WG, and others (myself included) are trying to say/show is that the the road you travel (ie 'group drives') should be evaluated for this kind of driving. That's why on the Dragon it is EXTREMELY important to not cross the line due to the relative proximity of drivers/vehicles in both directions. This should apply to all roads ... even if you are doing the speed limit. VERY few exceptions (like someone pulling over for you to pass)
Here's probably the biggest separation in thought when it comes to using the standards set forth by the politicians (ie road markings):
The government has a responsibility to safeguard the other person (driver or pedestrian) AND YOU ... even from yourself. I believe that we, especially those to attend these drives, feel as though we are perfectly capable to be responsible enough to take care of ourselves (even in the event of an accident). The issue seems to be understanding where our rights end and the other persons begins.
So ... for ME ... i believe that driving ANYWHERE at ANY speed is 'fine' ... as long as you don't jeopardize another persons life (or quality of life) directly. So, double lines and residential areas, in my opinion, are both risky enough to endanger another person and therefore off limits. I ask any one who does not believe this way to put yourself in a similar situation as the person who may be hurt ... just taking their family out for dinner.
now ... back to fun stuff ... can i have a badge that says " cracka-who?"

I never crossed that yellow line. That's my point, I never said slow down. Stay in control and stay in your lane. Drive fast, have fun. Pick empty roads. It's fairly simple stuff, and it's still not safe.
But life is a series of calculated risks. Just do the math, that's all I ask. Whatever you do, you do. But I like you guys and I'd hate to see anything happen to you or anyone else. I'll call it as I see it. You shouldn't cross that yellow line. Ever.
Go ahead and post that video of the lane crossing in the Dragon Forum. See what happens.

Wille Gee. How in #$%$# can you get off on someone for crossing the double lines if you did not see it. All you saw was a video which I assume you watched very closely to "catch something." What if I told you the truth! That I could see for two miles ahead. Man on man, if I said what I really thought, you would be pissed off big time. Yea, more drama, but I am sick of you do gooders. Really sick. The kettle calling the pot black. There is nothing I say say that has not been said but gee, I wish I could be perfect like you!

In all seriousness, why are people still lingering on this anyway? Obviously, some folks here can not see eye to eye. Well, the way I see it...variety is the spice of life. So folks, just agree to disagree, know and respect that other people have different opinions than you, and just be happy you have the freedom to choose your own car, choose how you get to drive that car, and choose what laws to obey. After all, if everyone throught exactly the same way and there was no differing viewpoints in the world, there would be no such thing as innovation and we'd all be incredibly boring people.
Cheers to all!
wow....so far this is what im understanding.....it IS OK to speed but NOT OK to cross the lines. i understand both points what brian and willie gee are trying to make and i do agree with both but speeding and crossing the lines are both wrong and you dragon people make a big deal about crossing the lines but speed through the dragon, thats still unsafe. its really unsafe to speed anywhere, doesnt matter how good of a driver you are or what calculations you make, there's always that chance that something will happen even if it happens for a split-second no matter where you are. so my point is, we all probably get the point now that crossing the lines AND speeding are both wrong. so can we have this forum back to when it normally was.....funny, crazy, and no drama stressing bullshit
