Who gives a #$@% about the freaking yellow line. It's not a barrier that makes you safe or unsafe.

Question

there is a correct entry, apex and exit inside your lane too. It is just smaller and more demanding as a driver to find and follow. I would think all of us would want to be challenged more not less when it come to driving these roads

"Driving the road" (as they call using all of the available paved surface on a road) should only be done on a closed circuit (track or race event on an open road).

I don't have a suggestion or answer for this debate that will not step on somebody's toes somewhere.

In essence, do whatever you want when driving on your own. If you are in an organized group, put together by anyone, follow their rules or dont attend. It really is that simple. Anything debated is basically moot.

I would love for the Andretti family, or anyone else anyone thought was a good race driver, to chime in here and give thier perspective (positive or negative) of line crossing on a public road or any of the issues we have been slapping people's wrists about for the past 4 days

Seriously, going around and around like this, splitting scrotum hairs, is going to cause everybody to not to want to do, or plan, anything.

Lets make some progress, people.

After thinking about it for half a second, since this IS a free and open forum, you can condone anything you'd like. All I ask is that you think about what you say, and maybe put a disclaimer so that hopefully other people reading may realize that what you think is "safe or unsafe" only applies to you and the risks you're willing to take.

To anyone out there who is unsure of whether crossing the double yellow lines is safe or unsafe, please take what Scorpion says with the understanding that he may be a professional stuntman, likes to skydive with no backup chute, enjoys running naked through a mile of thistles and brambles, practices unsafe sex in the remote villages of sub-saharan Africa, and eats uncooked chicken that has been sitting outside for 12 hours.

That's funny....inflammatory and not going to be received well by Brian, but funny

Brambles!!! I have not read that since I put down my last Tolkien book.

Trying to support everybody's stance is wearing out my Atlas type arms, so I made a promise to myself to only find the humor in future posts.

My official new stance is this

And the only reason I'm doing it is to show that people who think they do no wrong and like to get on others need to stop and take alook at themselves.
So basically, using your logic, any two crimes are equal. So if someone murders someone you love they should get the same penalty as someone who rolls through a stop sign at 2 mph and doesn't hit anyone or anything?

Yep, your logic makes PERFECT sense to me. I know what I said above are two extremes, but that's kinda the point.

As for who cares about the yellow line.. well I think that's pretty obvious isn't it?

WOW... i havent been on the FL forum regularly, but wow.. things between us have gotten a little out of hand... i just want to state that i havent been to any S2KI group drives... but i have met a few of the principles in this debate at different meets...

i do agree there's a hierarchy to wrong doing on public roads... it starts with driving drunk... im sure a lot of us have driven after 1 more beer than was legal... if i read the itenarary's of group drives correctly, they usually end up in a bar/pub of some sort... i think its one thing to intentionally "apex" a curve in the opposite lane and another less dangerous thing to go 6 inches or so into the other lane to smoothen your line out... its also much different than simply speeding.. but speeding itself is different from 20 mph over the limit than speeding 50 miles over the limit...

my point is, everything has some risk and some are more risky than others... we cant expect someone to understand that 1 risk is OK while another is NOT... both can be deadly under certain circumstances... everyone can feel free to chide someone else on the others risks and the others should feel free to ignore it or return the criticism... dont take anything to heart... no one is perfect...

i think we need to have a few non-driving events so everyone can chill out and get back to basics of talkin cars at meets and start fresh...

rob, i miss the "crazy buffet" style meet we had back when the hardtopguy was here... can we do one of those?
