MSRP on '03's
LOL.
Dear Todd,
I paid $32k extended warranty(100,000 miles) included, plus tax tag and tittle at Maroone of Hollywood. I got the color I wanted and interior I wanted. I didn't have to be flexible. I had to be firm. As a dealer you have to understand that if you can't do it some else will. If you take in consideration the dealer hold back and the difference between dealer invoice and MSRP, dealers are still making a killing(and that's not counting the finance kick back from the lender if the person finances) It would be stupid of them not to take a deal like mine. Must of us here are aware of almost every angle a dealer has in order to make money. Our job is to get the best deal possible. MSRP is not a good deal, but a poor excuse of a deal. The days of stupid buyers are over. But you still get us in the trading. You can get most people one way but you won't get them two ways. Dealers don't even give you Blue book on a trade (not even black book), they give you dirty book and you know what I mean. I hate to say this to you but this is not the right forum for you to advertise. I can say to you for certain that this group in Florida consist of people who know their cars and their market. We have members who are well educated in the class room and in life. My advise is to sell at $3100 and also try to sell them the extended warranty, "only to members here". You might see some interest, but MSRP is out of the question. Good Luck.
Sincerely,
Neil

LOL...I hear you. When the salesman from Rick Case started in with how I was going to get a good deal at MSRP because the car is such a hot seller, I told him flat out that I have seen the sales figures that show the car is more than 30% off from sales a year ago and that the downward trend has been increasing since the end of last quarter. I also reminded him that he had 6 of them on the lot. He didn't know what to say.
I'm not anti-dealer and I understand dealers need to make money. I just get annoyed when they try to insult my intelligence.
Oh and I'm not sure where the originator of this thread got his idea that I was expressing some kind of dealer loyalty. I never said anything of the kind. I am BRAND loyal, however, and this will be my third new Honda. I would like to have a good dealer relationship but I will buy from the dealer who is going to give me the best price on the car that I want. End of story. I will take it to the dealer who gives me the best service. End of story. Im much more likely to change my dealer loyalty than my brand loyalty. It was Honda USA's exceptional customer service that saved me as a customer, back when i had to take my Civic in for SEVEN A/C repairs over 3 years. They made the dealer fix it even after it was out of warranty, which meant a lot to me. They also found me a dealer who was not a d*ckhead when it came to fixing my car. This heavily influenced my decision to remain with the Honda line, otherwise, I'd never have seen the S2K on the lot

I like to support my local businesses but they made me take my business to a highway dealer which is what I will do from now on after my family collectively purchased 10 Hondas from them in the last 10 years.
But for me to be loyal to my dealer when it was obvious they wanted to rape me would be akin to a rape victim being loyal to the person that raped them and refusing to testify against them in court. You would have to be mental.
I just think it is dispicable that most Honda salesmen start there sales pitch with : " this car goes for so much over MSRP but I can do better than that.

They obviously prey on the uninformed and gouge them for as much as they can unless they are a knowledgeable customer much like the person who started this thread.
He should be stoned in the public square for insulting the intelligence of this S2000 community
Seems to be a lot of pent up frustration towards sales people here. IT WAS A
ING OFFER! If you're not interested, great. I've posted a few hundred times here and only 3 were in reference to selling anything. I guess I've learned my lesson. I don't expect anyone from S. Florida to come see me. I expect the guy who was just at one of the Tampa/Pinellas Cty. stores, who was treated like a criminal before being allowed a test drive, started at $5K over sticker, left at $2K over (with a shitty rate), to have an alternative. We "get you on the trade"? Sell it yourself. If dealers didn't whore them out, like they apparently do in the Miami area, than the regions resale would be a bit stronger. I'm a wannabe race car driver, but selling a product I believe in, carrying the highest CSI in the store, and helping my customers in every way possible, gets me this kind of shit. Stone me?! Jesus... Have a great "discussion" (i.e. bashing) about this. I'm the freaking anti-christ - I ask too much money. It's exciting to see enthusiasts boasting about their deals. Drop that VIN in and be taken a little more seriously.

Nice professional attitude there... You could have saved face by maybe apoligizing but instead you instigated.
In other words you're saying you are in favor of ripping people off and price gouging? What is so wrong about looking for a good deal or as the dealership offering the public good deals?
No anti-christ is too harsh... you're just an idiot.
If you're referring to VtecNE (Neil), he's a local member of the club and he is a owner of a 2002 Sebring Silver/Black. He's also contibuted a lot to this club where as you... So far all I see is price gouging. Oh and he's also a good friend of mine so I suggest you think before you speak...
Nope the only bastard here is me... so let's move on...
