Default Demand for S2000s not so high anymore

I've been browsing around for S2000s and it seems that the demand for S2000s are not so high anymore. There are plenty of brand new S2000s being sold at MSRP and under.

one dealer back in indiana has three new MY2001 all being offered at MSRP. they was asking $5000 above MSRP for all three of them previously.. all throughout the summer, no body touched it.

one dealer in Albany, NY has 5, maybe 6 new MY2001 also at MSRP.

I wonder if you notice the same trend in your areas.

Looks like winter is coming and they need to get rid of inventory for next year's. If I'm lucky, I should still be able to get one MY2001 just before the end of the year, easily for under MSRP. Heh heh heh.

Oh, and please participate in the poll too!

Not really, I don't think a dealer would offer their car below MSRP. You have to talk it down to below MSRP.

Lupin, Drive a little furhter south and you will see S2000's being offered from +$3000 to +$5000 over MSRP. Dan Young in Indy wants +$3000 and Bob Rohrman (Greenwood) wants +$5000 and they do not want to talk "deal". I was able to talk Dan Young "down" to just +$1500 over MSRP and that was it. My red S2000 is being built now. Can't wait.

In the Bay Area, there still appears to be demand as I have yet to see a new S2K listed at MSRP or less. Hell, I couldn't even find any used S2Ks from a dealer in the Bay Area for MSRP or less. SF Honda was trying to charge $42K() for an '01 earlier this week. I chuckled as I left quickly. Another dealer, Anderson Honda was selling two used, but very clean '00s for well over sticker. After only a few minutes on the internet, though, I was able to find a number of them around the country selling at MSRP. All the best deals seem to be in MA, FL and IN.

It'll be interesting to see if demand holds up through the fall, as a) summer is over tomorrow b) the economy still sucks, c) the 2002s apparently start arriving in November and d) some competitors, like the BWM with the M Roadster, have added rather significant changes, while Honda is only making some minor cosmetic ones.

All in all, it seems like a great time to buy a sports car.

I was just at Woodland Hills Honda here in So.Cal and I couldn't believe my eyes. They were selling a blk/blk 2001 s2000 for 42,750 dollars. I asked the sales person if the markup was correct and he said yes. For that price I'll shell out 3 thousand more and buy myself an M roadster. s2000 is a great car but not a 42000 dollar car.

boiler,
for $1500 above, you should check out Bob Rohrman in lafayette.
They have brand new silver, red, and yellow at msrp. Why wait if you can have it now cheaper??

btw,
you live in whiteland?? I go there for go-karting once in a while. There is a nice track there.

Take a flight to Boston and buy one at Honda Cars of Boston in Everett. Then drive it back.

I bought mine there more than two months ago at $750 below MSRP. It should be much cheaper now.

I live a couple of miles from the Kart track. That's all I heard while I was out walking my dogs a few minutes ago.

Thanks for the tip about Rohrman in Lafayette. I have already put money down to have my car ordered. I wanted a red 2001, since I didn't like the looks of the new rear windows and the wierd looking tweeters (they look like an after thought). The dealer was telling me that it should be here in about two weeks.
