Saul, let us know how good the transfers are for those titles.
I thought Letters from Iwo looked and sounded great -- although I must admit don't have golden ears/eyes. Some pretty cool channel separation during battle scenes and cleanly transferred. Most of all, it's a great story that completes the story laid out by Flags of our Fathers (it gives you the Japanese perspective).

As far as Apocalypto, our daughter has not given us a couple of hours to watch it. After seeing it at the theater, albeit well made, it's one hell of a violent film. This would probably better gauge the quality of the transfer since I have a basis for comparison.

Now that I know there are more HT aficionados in the forums, I'll keep you guys posted.

Hardly an esoteric here, but enjoy it nonetheless.

...nor here. I'm more of a content kind. There's so much snake-oil among audiophiles that sometimes is hard to separate facts from hype.

I pre-ordered Lost in Translation on HD... not a real showcase of HD, I suppose but really, it's such a beautifully filmed movie and altho I realize a lot of people either don't get it or don't like it (or don't like it cuz they don't get it), I really do like it a lot so
