Watched the Matrix. Pretty good transfer. Sound levels seemed a little low. I'll have to check another movie tomorrow to see if one of the children have messed with any settings.

No, I purchased that like 2 years ago off ebay when it first came out, it was a limited run for best buy and it was like $90. I got mine off fleebay for $34 shipped to the house.

Btw, Sony just released a new update for PS3 yesterday that adds up-conversion to the blu-ray player. I must say its quite nice

That's the one that allows it to play BD dvd's at 1080p, correct? I need to do that. We have always favored the picture quality of the Toshiba to the PS3, thereby spurring us to purchase movies in the HD-DVD format over the BD.

Yes, but it also up converts standard dvd's and ps/ps2 games as well. I tried it out with Matrix last night and also with Cars (just wanted to see what animation looked like) for a comparison.

I'll see if I can get some pics of the difference because it was noticeable.

FYI skip, since this LG thing has come out, the market has done a 180. The LG player is like 1,200 bucks and the Sony BD-1 is now 599 retail, and can be had on Ebay for 350 or so. I was . The BD-1 used to be 1,200!!

Matrix Ultimate arrived today!
As did disc 1 of Planet Earth (Netflix).

Now to drag my other two speakers back out... (no place to mount them for regular viewing, so they come out for special movie-watching fun)

Oh and Cars on the A2 = might as well be HD

thank goodness for banana-plugs. Makes it really easy to add/remove/rearrange speakers on the receiver.
