Default F Series and Torque

please explain.

being that its a motor that puts out 120hp per liter i would think that theres a compromise somewhere.

i was getting mad hated on about my car last nite.

just that i should have turboed it.

and vortech is better than comptech

and also that the car has no torque

and that all my power is post vtec range

etc.

its just a different set up in hawaii where everyone and their mom has some kinda turbo B-series in thier civic "EG or EK" or a fukkin SR20 in their 240 "S13" yeah fukkin whatevers that shit is old technology already. bitchez

Frankly, find me a stock 2.0 NA 4 cylinder with more torque than the F20C.

I liked my '93 Turbo MR-2, but If I had a chance, I'd buy back my '88 Supercharged '2. The power delivery was better with the SC.

except for my infiniti, the smallest motor i've ever owned was 5.0litres. this is the first time i've had a torque shortage. doesn't bother me though, cuz i have a RPM surplus now

anyway, i go just fast enough to kepp turbo guys in the boost and after a little while they find they don't have enough cooling and gotta back off.

i think people dont realize that the s2k is not a DRAG car it is a well tuned/high compressed car w/great handling. read the reviews on this months road&track .turbocharged s2ks didnt even make too great of track times close to stock times more like.and they usually overheat I guess if you not looking for daily driving, turbo on a high compression motor is the way to go!

as for the comptech I agree with angel it is "better" than vortech and supercharging an F20/22 will have less strain on the motor.

you can always change the final gear to provide closer gear ratios to compensate for the low end torque but that may affect the amount of boost from post vtec.

Having a torqueless Honda doesn't bother me that much. The relatively light weight and solid chassis makes up for it in the turns. Most cars can beat me in the straights but I end up reeling them in in the corners. That brings a smile to my face because it takes more skill to take a turn than to go straight.

I thought that my STi was the answer; good brakes, excellent traction, and awesome torque. It makes bad drivers look good. But it weighed 3265 lbs vs my Integra's 2600 (still heavy though). I wonder if I have video of me against an STi....

Yep, I will post it later.

Here is a video of me with an STi. One thing to note though; the driver of the STi is really good but was driving his car slow that day. I think the car was still new and didn't want to drive it too hard. Plus I think that he was new to the car. Later on in the season, he was pulling times in the low 40s. That is over a second faster than I've been able to go in my Integra. So don't think that my car is faster than an STi or anything. The video just shows that a lighter car can brake harder and later than a heavier one. Look at how the STi pulls away and leaves me in the dust.

Good Job! What gear/speed are you at when exiting the "rubber room"? In the 2000 S200 (on Kumhos v700) I remember being at the top of 2nd right at the kink to enter the straight! Its a really sucky place to need a shift so you either hold 2nd on the limiter or shift early and use 3rd through the whole corner.

I wonder if the resluts would have been different if you were using the whole straight? On the short track, I damn nearly boiled my brakes, on the long track, it was better. The brakes really cooled off going down the straight. Interestingly, the top speed wasn't that different. If I remember correctly, I was seeing around 90 before braking for T1 on the short track, and only 120ish on the long track (top down).
