Here's a question, WTF was the Kuai police department thinking? They had to know the protestors were out there before the boat tried to unload, so you think it would be wise to have peace officers already on scene to lookout for the passengers AND the protestors safety. If things had gotten hotter any faster the Police wouldn't have arrived until after the blood started flowing.

I'm sure there are already plenty of boats plowing through Kauai's waters to supply the ISLAND.
Stupid people suck.

Politics.

The Coast guard was there to insure the safety of the boat while it was at sea. Once the boat docks and the conflict is on land, it's out of our hands. All we could do was protect the boat from the possibility of any damages by protesters in the water. Once on land, it becomes the Police department's responsibility.

Running on emotion, I'm sure most of the Coast Guard would have loved to get on land and help, but politics are politics.
what about the cops? seems like they didnt really do anything till it got out of hand. they shoulda made their presence known to begin with to contain the crowd.

They should've pepper sprayed all those idiots. The protesters were the ones getting violent. Should have "Superseded" the crowd with sprays or tasers! Hehe.

i'm worried about what the other corporations around the world are thinking, ie:

"Hawaii gov't approves planning, development and investment in a business sector. gov't approves all plans and routes of xyz company. the gov't lets xyz company spend years and hundreds of millions of dollars on the project. then they let the protesters take control. then the court system puts TRO's on xyz company"

let's see how much investment from outside corporations we get in the coming years. Hawaii's business climate is the absolute worst.
