Blaupunkt Saucer Subs
Has anyone heard these? Really thin and light. I think they might work in the rear deck while keeping the spare. The specs are from caraudio mag: the 10" weighs 40oz, 2 1/4" thick, 180-550 watts, the 12" dual voice coil weighs in at 20oz, 2 1/2" thick and can handle 400-1200 watts.

My next sub project will use 1 or two of these new Blaupunkt subs in the passenger compartment...
This summer...
While I have never been impressed with Blaupunkt products, these extremely thin subs provide a lot of mounting options.

Although on it's own this may be correct, excursion is almost totally controlled with box design. In a different box I'm sure the results would be better.

You can limit excursion by box design, but you decrease the audio output correspondingly, unless you change from a sealed to a ported design. Ported designs typically give more audio output near system resonance, and do it with less cone excursion. But they also experience even more uncontrolled cone excursion below system resonance than a sealed system.
In order to keep that system resonance point low, so there would be little audio below it, I'd need a very large box. And in my case I'm trying to keep the box as small as possible. For this particular driver I'd need a 4" port tube 16 inches long, which is slightly outrageous in a 20 liter box.
