05 S2000 or 92 NSX
[QUOTE=ediddy310,Jan 27 2006, 10:44 PM] The stock nsx-r suspension is good don't get me wrong.....but its still factory suspension. If you read in my post earlier I said I do have the nsx type-r braces that make a difference in the understeering for the earlier models like mine.

The coilovers that I have are basically one step below the Motons which are the JIC's FLT02's shown here.

The Motons 4 way adjustable are the best shown here but are pricey which I plan to get later on: http://scienceofspeed.com/products/suspens...ucts/NSX/Moton/
Yes the 97+ is a bigger motor by .2 liters but I am getting the 3.8L stroker motor done by Jon Martin which is about 331whp and has room for improvement.
As far as the clutch, gearing and all that....nothing on my car will be stock......I am getting one of that last few ultra featherweight flywheels left for the nsx unless theres another order of 50..... also adding the OS GIKEN LSD and the centerforce clutch built by Mark Basch.
OS GIKEN shown here: http://scienceofspeed.com/products/drivetr...s/NSX/OS-Giken/
I asked Jon M. about doing a 6 speed swap and he told me not to waste my money.
So as you see my car is already set up better than the type-r....the only difference of course is I do not have the hood or the wing which I don't really care for......that stuff is good when you are going top speed and I live in LA so theres not much top speeding around the freeways here.
The nsx-r is a very special car no doubt but any nsx with the right parts added to it can be better on any given day. Obviously stock vs stock the nsx-r wins hands down....but mines isn't stock.
I chose it because it I did not want t-top and handling wise the coupe is better.
Also there is no power steering on the earliers ones.
Also it is OBD 1 so if you want a lot of power...... which most aftermarket parts are made for it is the right one to pick.
Look I am not here to pick a fight with anyone or to sit here and debate all day.....you have your opinions and I have my facts and opinions.
I am no expert but I do listen to the experts....the s2000 is a great car and more practical. They are great cars for the short track and s2000 guys are great guys just like NSX guys.......at least most of them.
Need anymore info? Talk to Jon Martin like I said and do your research on how much parts cost for NSX vs S2000.
You want a oem nsx-r hood? No problem

[QUOTE=Ronin2k,Jan 28 2006, 12:08 AM] Didnt know you had such big $$ticket$$ mods. I wasnt trying to argue just wanted to know how your car really is better than the R. So what was your point anyways? Its better to buy a 10 year old NSX and mod it to death over a stock S2000? Or a modded NSX is better than a modded S2000?
I'm kinda done with sinking huge money into cars only to toss them aside in a few years. Mods like the ones you describe kill resale value if/when it comes time to trade up. I've been there and done that with other cars like preludes civics etc. Wasting 6 k on a car then trying to sell the parts while reinstalling the OEM parts etc. With my current ride i might do some cosmetic parts like the oem lip kit ans strakes and perhaps some wheels but i dont feel the need to pump mad cash into its performance.

My only intent was to show that a Stock 05 S2000 is about the same price as a 91-92 NSX. The performance of the S2000 is equal if not better than the NSX unless the NSX is running like it did from day 1. Both cars are awesome and hopefully when i've got the coins i wil have both in my garage. =-)
cheers and congrats on a beautiful car.

and?

I was in a similar situation in 2002 - between an 02 S2k or a 91-94 NSX.
Let me say that magazine or internet reading does NOT define either of these cars. They are both great cars, but this would be a VERY easy decision for me. I drove both a new S2k and a used NSX in 02, and bought the NSX despite myself. I expected maintenance to be more, things to break, etc. Nada. I've had a couple expenses I would not on an S2k (timing belt, climate control, more tires), but overall my cost of ownership is LESS with the NSX as a weekender than it would have been with a stook.
Lets say I bought an 02 S2k new in 02, and sold it today. I've lost at least $10k.
I could sell my NSX for what I paid for it with my upgrades, or about $5k less without.
I guess what I am trying to say is: Drive em both an make your decision on passion, not on money. If you buy smart on either (well cared for NSX, mildly used S2k) and the financial burden is about the same.

It's all about the passion. Go with the car that speaks to you.
I say that about color when people are choosing among S2000s, and I say it about the car itself when people are comparison shopping.
We're not talking about appliances here, folks; we're talking about high-performance sports cars. Wherever your heart takes you, go with it. You'll never be satisfied otherwise.

I don't care if it's a Honda or a GM, a 15 year old car is going to require a lot more care and attention than a brand new car with a warranty.
Like I said good luck with your decision I love both cars.....you cannot go wrong either way.
