What did you decide?
Yup no torque is a major complaint about the S2k, but it's also the only complaint among owners, and even with the low torque it's no slouch. The car is capable of a mid-13 sec 1/4 mile but some people don't like revving to the stratosphere to get there. It's not meant for drag racing I know, I just mention the 1/4 mile time as a benchmark to compare acceleration against other cars.
Even though it sounds like you've changed your mind, I still suggest a proper test drive where you can wind it out and hit some turns. The low torque issue sounds worse than it really is once you drive the car. Chances are you'll have an epiphany.

I could have easily got another car w/more tq (350Z, STi, Evo etc...) Just something about the balance of the S, that makes it such a great car.
Ok the S is fun to drive but fast off the line its not. Maybe a cobra is what u are looking for or a GTO. Both have plenty of tq. Npw if u want a honda that is rwd and fun to cruise in and have the option to put the top down than the S is for u. If u want a fast car get a V8 or maybe a evo u can make them fast for cheap there are so many used parts out there for cheap. But the only thing i don't like about my CR is 1. i can't put the top down when ever i want it has a hard top on, 2. no room for any thing in the car trunk is a joke i can fit one suit case in it and i like to go camping fishing and road trips. It makes me want to sell the CR. But im thinking about just geting a truck now with a trailer
Wooky,
A lot of the posters make sense above. You should know what you're looking for out of a car. I just went through this process myself, of trying to figure out what I wanted, and what was important to me. To be honest, the s2k wasn't really what I initially thought I wanted (see list of drawbacks above and i'm sure there are a few more I have forgotten to add).
However, I don't need it for my DD - so this was 'fun' car. That allows me to be more impractical in some aspects (i'm not shopping for groceries in it and i'm not carrying large friends around for sure), but honestly - forget everything everyone said initially - and test drive it.
I did that. I was sold from the moment I took it around my first turn.
The car is totally connected to the road, in a way your Audi wont be. It's also not an auto.. and it's incredibly responsive. It's also a rougher ride. Still.. you can read all of these reasons, descriptions etc, and it wont matter until you sit in it and drive it.
And they're right - if you need convincing.. and you're doing all this thinking without test driving it - then you're missing out.
Get out there.. drive it.. and mull it around. I picked up an 01 with under 13k miles on it. My Honda and I have many years ahead of us.
